He is interesting. To me he looks better on right rein. Left rein is unlevel in front. I see right and left front shortness. Mainly left fore.
My understanding of what Nic says is that slowed down, the left fore lands heel first, and is looking good, the right fore lands toe first and rotates and is still not right. She believes his right foot needs to change and improve, and that his left shoulder is restricted and needs body work, and cycles of body work, and roadwork may progressively get him landing correctly on both front feet and thus looking level.
He is marching out happily out hacking so he is clearly fairly happy with his feet :-)

Lots achieved
Remi and Mac in from field. Mac still easy to catch (which is always good). Remi seemed to be walking okay in from field. Parked Mac in stable with breakfast, and walked Remi, who seemed okay. Not too bad at all. Huge relief.
Parked Remi in Louise's stable, with breakfast (doubled his MgO to 100ml). Mac was eating haylage not breakfast with minerals, so I took haynet out of stable. Came back later, and naughty horse had kicked a hole in his three day old bucket! Think someone had a temper tantrum!!
E came to treat Remi. Watched Remi on lunge. Not bending left, and on left rein ribs to left, but shoulders and quarters to the right. Stiff through back, and fairly stilted.
Nowhere near as short and reluctant as Wednesday night, and looked like movement patterns and body usage, not footyness. So I was generally thrilled :-)
Videod him on lunge and trotting up in straight line.
Lots of treatment for Remi, mainly I think releasing left shoulder and tight hamstrings. I have walk raise pole, and sideways over poles homework to do.
Lunged him again, and the difference was transformational. Foward, more use of back and body, freer, more active. Very pleased. There is video coming that should show the difference.
Vet came to take bloods for Remi to check he hasnt got PPID. Results on thursday. I dont think he will have it. But good to makes sure re grass sensitivity.
E as quick look at Mac. His back and trunk good, but tight at base for neck / check / in front. Oddly tight there. More to look at next time.
E and I for lunch at Skim pub :-)
Back to yard, tacked up ponies via the piccadily circus yard had become. Of for an hour walk hack round Remi's route. It took us 1hr 2 minutes, and was 5.34km at an average speed of 5.1km. Not sure how we achieved a max speed of 9.4km when we didnt go out of walk. Remi strode out keenly, ears pricked. Definitely not footy. [Clearly Remi just wanted to give me a heart attack yesterday and cause a sleepless night]. Remi mostly leaving Mac in his wake, apart from the few times when Remi needed to hide behind Mac from scary things. Remi was mostly very brave. He was also happy and enjoying his hack :-) Mac I think is missing his hind shoes, and didnt walk out as fast as Remi.
Ponies back in stables, and untacked. Now waiting for saddler to check both saddles. He turns up having accidently been to Mac's yard. We arent there any more. I am sure I told him about yard change when booked in. He forgives us after a cup of tea. He thinks Remi's saddle is a tiny bit wide, but within tolerable limits as long as he doesnt loose weight or muscle.
As he has put on 20kg in four days according to my weight tape, I dont think he is going to be dropping weight soon!
I tacked up Remi to ride him in school for saddler to check fit. Big moment for me as I havent sat on Remi in school for about 9 months. Feels a bit strange, but he is striding out. Trot on left rein, saddler cant seem much wrong with him. I can straighten him a bit under saddle. On right rein there is big shift like all falls way on right hand side, I can shift weight to left, and get him a bit straighter. But more is for another day. Saddler happy with saddle fit. Says unless big weight changes he will be fine for next 3-6 months with saddle.
Mac's saddle also fine. Should do him next 3-6 months, unless balloon on grass. I said not planning on anyone eating that much grass.
Ponies back out. They are like old hands, lead in one hand, lead together swap in and out of stables / tying up etc. They are so nice together. My bay pair of ponies :-)
Dont know what to make about the footyiness wednesday, will watch weight and footyiness and take each day as it comes.

Wednesday 27th March
Normal day at work, and 7pm lesson after work.
Raced to yard. Mac and Remi standing with heads over the gate. Grabbed them in. Both great to catch, lead together, and tie Mac up and pop Remi in stable with is tea with minerals, and equissage on under rugs. Wouldnt guess Mac and Remi only met on Monday!!
Raced to tack Mac up. First time in new arena, and under floodlights for lesson :-). Lots for him to get used to but he was very good. Occasionally a bit worried / over awed. Lots going on and lots to see and on different levels. But mostly very good. Good lesson. So very pleased with him. First evening lesson of the year.

Remi out to lunge. He wasnt keen. He was really stiff and short stepping and reluctant on both reins. Much worse than when lunged at Rockley / on Monday. No one clear foot, looked unhappy on all feet. Hard to keep trotting. Slow walking back down to yard. Treated his feet for thrush just in case. Slow and hesitant picking his way over gravel tracks back to his field. I had no choice but to put out as late at night, and I have two horses, one field and one stable at the moment.
I was thinking SWEAR WORDS - footy due to reacting to grass. Panic!
Saw yard owner doing lates, who said if he needed to come in Thursday, would organise an over night companion for Mac in field, and was all doable.
Was thinking good ponies I have. Good to come in and take turns at eating dinner and being equissaged, Mac good first time in school in dark for lesson. Remi lunged. Both good to go back out together in dark. Field is a good five minute walk down a footpath in pitch black. I then have to unlock a gate, and undo two strips of electric to put them out.
Love them both.

Monday 25th March
Monday
First hack at 6.45am Monday with Mac good. Remi much
broader, his girth barely reaches. And moulting madly. My circuit isjust under
an hour in walk. Remi was happy to be hacking, and strode out. Slower in places
and over stones. But generally good. He hid behind Mac a few times from scary
things, but was generally good. Am thrilled he was happy both in his feet and
his behaviour out hacking, long may it continue.
Turned Mac and Remi out together, and they both seemed fine. Added Dash (other horse). Dash immediately rolled, Mac rolled further up hill,then Remi rolled. They seem to have established a pecking order without too much scuffling. Remi is boss, then Dash, then Mac. Think the bigger horses are going to squash Mac a bit (which will be good for him – he is a monkey). But they just flick an ear or point a head in his direction and he remembers his place.
Weigh taped Remi 3pm Monday and with was the same as at Rockley 9am Sunday morning (553kg), which is fabulous. He is looking well. Comments that he looks like he has grown! Lou has kindly trimmed mane, legs, and beard and I curry combed lots of hair out and cut tail :-) He is also relaxed, and chilled. Which is great.
L, trimmer came to see Remi Monday evening. She watched him move, and took photos of his feet for me, suggested coming back in two months (unless we have problems before). http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/1817324193
He has a hole, an inch deep at the bottom of his heel / top of his frog on left hind. Can get tool in a good inch. Have syringed with warm salty water til water ran clean. Dried by stuffing with cotton wool and plugged with some kind of antibacterial clay fibre stuff (Redhorse). Not lame on this foot. (We know he has been a bit shorter left hind for ages, but not lame per say). Not very sore, and mainly filling with clay to try and avoid gunk getting in and getting infected. Unsure about this in relation to trying to understand the various other things going on with him. An artefact? Nic said it was at it's worst about a fortnight ago, and hasnt been bothering him since. The next day - I looked at all four frogs really carefully and found a similar concealed hole in the right frog :-(
So far okay with grass, but am being vigilant, and have managed to sub-rent a stable which give me great flexibility. Means if I think Remi goes footy from grass, I could pull him in for 48 hours, and see if improves.
He was being cussed about eating. He didn’t eat the Sunday morning breakfast on Sunday evening. Or the new breakfast I made him Monday(still no minerals in it, and identical to what he has at Rockley). Mondaynight he was eating determinedly the Rockley breakfast from my muck bucket(where I had thrown it away)! He does make me laugh.
I made him a Monday dinner with all my minerals in it, and he ate about 25% on yard, and about another 50% later in the field. This morning he ate 75% of a new feed with minerals in, in the field. So hopefully going in the right direction. It would seem minerals not the issue, he just isn’t that bothered about bucket feed. He is eating loads of haylage (when in) and lots of grass.

Home Sunday 24th March
Sunday
Remi update. So far, so good. He travelled well – bright eyed and bushy tailed, and ate lots of way home. Very different to his travelling to Rockley, and looking exhausted for a few days.
Arrived, walked on to yard and started eating more haylage.We walked him up and down yard and track, and lunged him. Similar to how he was at Rockley day before.

Brought his old friend over who he wickered at and touched noses with. Put both in field. Both rolled and rolled and started eating. More rolling. Whilst unloading lorry I could see Remi’s legs sticking up on the horizon of the hill from yard as he rolled more.
